The Small Island Developing States team is currently in need of support from an Online Volunteer with experience in GIS Analysis to conduct spatial data processing for the preparation of publicly available gridded dataset for our data pipeline. We are working on a web visualization platform for geospatial data resampled at several resolutions, and we have developed processing scripts that can be used to analyze and preprocess spatial datasets. The online volunteer will be responsible for employing these geoprocessing scripts to process spatial data and metadata based on a list of public datasets, each with several spatial layers. The final deliverable will be a folder of processed spatial data and a metadata document.

UNDP is committed to Small Island Developing States (SIDS), working to connect the UN global processes to regional and local development priorities and supporting and advocating for SIDS-specific development solutions. UNDP supports SIDS through a global framework consisting of three main pillars: Climate Action, Blue Economy and Digital Transformation. The UNDP SIDS team has developed a geospatial platform designed to visualize and analyze the challenges and solutions for development in the SIDS. Analysis tools are being developed extract insights from the geospatial datasets, such as correlation between datasets, identification of high-risk areas within countries, visualizing regional development potential in areas including food security, water, and energy access.
