Job Description

Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Youth Specialist

Winrock International works with people around the world to increase economic opportunity, sustain natural resources, and protect the environment. Winrock is seeking experienced candidates for an anticipated USAID project that will accelerate resilient, agriculture-led economic growth and increase food security in Malawi. The project is expected to use a market systems approach to promote access to and adoption of improved inputs, market information, extension and advisory services, market access, and post-harvest services. The project will use innovative partnerships to incentivize private sector investment in modernizing Malawi’s agriculture sector while increasing production capacity and market access for nutrient-rich value chains and building resilience for smallholder farmers.

The GESI and Youth Specialist will provide technical leadership and design, coordinate, and implement the GESI and Youth strategy and activities. The GESI and Youth Specialist is also responsible for training project staff on GESI principles, and will contribute to Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) activities to document and analyze the impact of the project on women and youth. • Monitor, assess, and report on the implementation of the GESI Strategy, and ensure compliance in all programming, planning, training, and activities
  • Provide advice and inputs to better support consistent and effective gender and youth integration in programming, planning, implementation, and MEL
  • Work with the Procurement and Grants Team to ensure that grant Requests for Proposals, applications, and funded grant implementation include gender and youth considerations
  • Work with the MEL team in the development, application, and monitoring of gender-sensitive indicators and the consistent use of gender disaggregation in reporting to better measure gender-related impacts and outcomes
  • Contribute to the project’s learning agenda – particularly around lessons, successes, and approaches related to GESI and youth integration, women and youth empowerment, etc.
  • Support the integration of GESI and youth content into communication materials, and integrate GESI and youth related highlights and success stories for Quarterly and Annual progress reports for donor submission
