Result of Service
The contractor's service will support the finalization of Phase 2 activities of the project and the transition to phase 3 of COVID19 DA Projects on Social Protection and SME Surge.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the co-project managers in charge of the UN-DA COVID Project entitled "Global Initiative towards post-COVID-19 Resurgence of the Micro-, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Sector" Component 2: Cluster F- Access to Markets (hereinafter referred as "UN-DA COVID on MSME Surge") as well as the UN Social Protection Project - 2023Y: Strengthening Social Protection for Pandemic Responses: Identifying the Vulnerable, Aiding Recovery and Building Resilience “Strengthening consumer protection in the provision of health services (including e-health) in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.” (hereinafter referred as "UN-DA COVID on Social Protection") and the overall guidance of the Head of the UNCTAD's Competition and Consumer Policies Branch; the incumbent will support the Project team in the following specific activities:

Overall assistance to Project managers in the finalization of the UN-DA COVID on MSME Surge and the Social Protection.

Support the Project Managers in the preparation and implementation of Phase 3 of the UN-DA COVID on MSME Surge and Social Protection in coordination with the second contractor hired under the same UN DA COVID projects.

Qualifications/special skills
Skills: Strong communication skills are also desirable.
Academic Qualifications: Master's degree in Law or Economics or related field is a requirement.
Experience: At least 2 years of work experience, with at least 1 year working with competition authorities is necessary, along with having worked with permanent and diplomatic representatives to the UN. Experience in writing reports and drafting complex legal-economic documents is necessary. Experience in competition policy/law is necessary and SME development is an asset. Experience in organizing events is desirable.
Language: Fluency in oral and written English and French is required. Other UN official language is an asset.
