Head of Legal

Part-Time Salary: £31,288 - £33,129 per annum, + good range of benefits

Contract: Permanent, Part-Time - 24 hours per week

Based: Home based /Milton Keynes

Do you have experience in commercial / company law?

This is an excellent opportunity to support the income generating and procurement activities at World Vision UK.

The focus of the role will be the provision of legal advice and ensuring full compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. There will also be a need to instil a culture of legal awareness and compliance across the organisation.

Your Key Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Lead on the provision of expert, pragmatic and proactive legal and regulatory advice particularly in the areas of commercial contracts, fundraising, Charity Commission requirements, data protection, safeguarding, intellectual property, disputes and contested legacies

  • Provide legal review, drafting, assistance with negotiation and approval of the terms of contracts (including supplier, fundraising, donor, insurance etc.)

  • Set the organisational agenda for the management of legal and regulatory risk including maintaining a register of contracts and legal exposure, and ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations

  • Lead a Legal & Compliance Community of Practice within the organisation

  • Promote a culture of legal awareness and compliance throughout the organisation including developing standard processes and legal templates, building legal capacity, delivering training, and striving for continuous improvement

  • Engage with peers in the charity and INGO sectors

The successful candidate will have:

  • Extensive post qualification experience either In-house or in private practice

  • Significant experience in commercial / company law

  • Charity law, fundraising regulations, and other legal and regulatory compliance required by charities would be advantageous

  • Proven experience of leading commercial negotiations with suppliers / contractors, customers / donors and other third parties

  • Experience of managing legal risk and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance
